I volunteer for City Tutors which is a remote tutoring program for students in NYC. The pandemic, school closures and remote learning had a tremendously negative impact on students throughout the city, especially students who were already under-resourced. Tutoring services like City Tutors can help close the learning gap from the pandemic and dramatically improve student's long-term outcomes. I volunteer for City Tutors for 1-2 hours per week and have loved it.

I'm proud of what the Greenpoint Hunger Program does for the local Greenpoint community by offering take out dinners every Wednesday and a food pantry on Thursdays. They also just gave away 350+ free turkeys to the community during the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway. This is a lifeline for residents experiencing food insecurity.

I'm a huge fan of EVLoves NYC. It's a completely volunteer run group whose goal is to provide gourmet, restaurant-quality meals to New Yorkers in need. They partner with neighborhood based mutual aid groups to distribute the 2k+ meals they cook every Sunday. $2 can feed a New Yorker! I help transport meals back to my neighborhood community fridge, and getting to see the impact it makes is really powerful (and sobering). We have regulars that meet us there each week, and we know that for some of them this is the only home-cooked meal they'll get for the week. It's a great group with wonderful and incredibly thoughtful people.

It's true if you can believe it - Insider says that they played Scrabble together. I wrote it with my ex-boyfriend (very evolved of us), and it features me, Jenny Gorelick, as "Billy" and the very funny hot single, Gabby Bryan, as "Mike." There is betrayal, there is gym, tan, laundry, there is a prison talent show and an original EDM song that we perform live!!

Wanted: A person to share my granny smith green apple with at the park or maybe the river or beach

I can never finish it. An apple at the park sounds like a nice enough idea, but apples now are so large. Average diameter, 3 3/4th of an inch. Who can eat an entire apple in one sitting? The trouble is, you can’t save an apple for later. Like an open beer, a hot cup of coffee, a brief affair with the musician down the hall, over time the apple becomes less than it once was… and soon, it decays. I am watching, now, my half eaten apple browning in some spots, beginning to smell a bit putrid, attracting the company of little fruit flies. Throw it away? Cut my losses? I could. I have. But is a whole half of an apple, and all the efforts it took to become something at all, worth carelessly tossing into the trash bin? Is a human mind worth carelessly scrolling the internet alone at the park? I want more for us, our apples and minds. And yes, I am lonely. Why else would I put out an ad? I just think it’d be a nice routine, you know. Nothing overly romantic. I read my book, I make my notes, I eat a couple bites of the apple then set it down on a napkin between us. You, without asking, pick it up with intuition, not even looking up from your big blank sketchbook upon which you draw delicate hands of the aged and veined variety. Eventually, the apple is down to its core and thrown not in the trash but out towards the trees where it will be consumed by some animal— maybe shared between two. Nothing is wasted, no one is lonely, and everything is sufficiently enjoyed before it goes bad. Serious inquiries only.

We were both dancing at the Chelsea Manning set. You asked your friend who was playing and I told you instead. We chatted for a couple minutes about her and danced, you said let’s go to the front together but I didn’t want to lose my friend. I am confident we even were holding hands for a moment! You went to get another drink and were gone! Then, I saw you in another room as I was walking out when you were walking in and you said “hope everything is going good!” I unfortunately couldn’t come up with anything cute to say and scurried up to the roof.

You are Indian and probably like 5’9”–5’11” were wearing a blue with small white stripes kinda flowy shirt, I think it was a henley. You had scruff and wire glasses (I think wire) you were with truly the tallest person ever and he was wearing white, again super tall. I was wearing a black tank top that tied in the front and jeans and have brown hair. an observation about a dermatologist…

Occasionally I visit a dermatologist—in part, to get free samples of moisturizer. A recent visit had a more spiritual effect on me than an epidermal one. Mustachioed, diminutive, and mild-mannered, Dr. Bruce surely makes a lot of money; he does butt lifts, face lifts, the works. I noticed that every employee—without exception, from the secretary to the associate doctors—were beautiful young women. I asked how this could be, and it turns out Bruce does the hiring–go figure. He's no doubt a shrewd marketeer. His strategy is an old playbook: populate the premises with beautiful women, and men will follow. And while he may be right, I questioned his integrity. How can I trust a medical doctor who hires based on the superficial? I’m sure the attractive female employees are good and noble—but you know what I mean. Bruce is like the Andrew Cuomo of dermatology; he implements affirmative action for attractive women. Some call it business. But I call it full of shit. I don’t always keep the faith, but when I walked out of his office, I finally lost it. I knew exactly what Abraham Lincoln meant when he said: "I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go."

2. A rustic overnight glamping journey on an organic regenerative veggie farm in the northern Catskills.
